Unidentified gull from Andenes, Andøy 14.02.2008

This bird was found with herrring gulls and iceland gulls in Andenes. It has a fully developed adult plumage, with a paler grey back than herring gulls. The dark ving tips are bleach compared to herring gulls, and it has bright yellow- white iris and flesh-colored base of bill

The jizz is more herring than iceland gull; head shape rather triangular with a flat forhead.

Note the pale colour and more gereyish wingtips compared with herring gulls (partly clouded, soft light)

This bird first struck me as a potential kumlieni iceland gull, and the patetrn of the wing tip fits well. But it looks a bit heavy-chested and long-billed - even for a male iceland gull..?

An other option is a hybrid
herring X glaucious gull. But I find it quite slim and medium-sized compared to herring gulls, and with a long wing projection
